Blaze and Coyote are two of the most commonly specified grills in the $3,500–$7,000 price range for built-in outdoor kitchens. Both are solid products. They also have real differences that matter depending on how you cook and what you prioritize in an Oklahoma outdoor kitchen. We’ve installed hundreds of outdoor kitchens in the Tulsa metro area and have worked with both brands extensively.
Build Quality and Materials
Blaze
Blaze grills are built from 304 stainless steel throughout — body, grates, burners, and interior. The gauge on the body panels is substantial for the price range, and the welds are consistently clean. Blaze uses cast stainless burners rather than cast iron, which eliminates any rust concern in Oklahoma’s humid summer months. The 12,000 BTU burners are responsive and hold temperature reliably. The push-and-turn ignition is simple and dependable. Blaze also ships with a solid lifetime warranty on burners, cooking grates, and the firebox.
Coyote
Coyote uses 304 stainless for main components with some 430 stainless in secondary areas — an honest tradeoff at their price point. The distinctive Coyote design element is the ceramic infrared rear burner on the S-Series, which produces intense even heat across the cooking surface for searing. Coyote’s grate system is well-designed: heavy stainless rods that retain heat well and clean easily. Coyote also offers a lifetime warranty on burners and grates. The cooking area on comparable Coyote and Blaze models is roughly equivalent.
Performance
Both grills perform well for everyday grilling — burgers, steaks, chicken, vegetables. The differences emerge at the extremes:
- High-heat searing: Coyote’s rear infrared burner gives it an edge if searing is a priority. The infrared element generates intense direct radiant heat that produces restaurant-quality sear marks and crust.
- Low and slow / indirect cooking: Both grills handle indirect cooking similarly. Blaze’s even burner output is slightly more predictable for this application.
- Wind performance: Oklahoma wind is real. Both brands perform adequately, but the heavier grate mass of both models helps hold temperature in moderate wind.
- BTU output: Comparable models in both brands are in the 40,000–60,000 BTU range total. Raw BTU is not the differentiator here — heat management is.
Price Range (2024–2025)
- Blaze 4-burner built-in (BLZ-4LTE2): $2,800 – $3,400 retail
- Coyote S-Series 4-burner built-in (C1SL36LP): $3,200 – $4,000 retail
- Blaze Professional 4-burner: $4,500 – $5,500 retail
- Coyote Asado 36″: $4,800 – $6,000 retail
Our Recommendation for Oklahoma Outdoor Kitchens
For most Tulsa metro homeowners, Blaze is the stronger value play. The 304 stainless throughout, lifetime warranty, and proven reliability at the 4-burner price point make it the default recommendation for outdoor kitchens in the $45,000–$85,000 range. You get professional-grade performance without overpaying for the grill itself relative to the total project.
Coyote makes more sense if you specifically want the rear infrared burner for searing, or if you’re drawn to the design aesthetic of the S-Series. The price premium is real but not unreasonable for what you get.
Both brands are substantially better than big-box alternatives at a similar price point and will outlast a Nexgrill or Weber built-in by a significant margin in an outdoor kitchen application.
Other Grills We Install
Blaze and Coyote are not the only options. We regularly install Lynx, Alfresco, Twin Eagles, and Weber Genesis built-in models depending on client preference and budget. On projects where the client wants to step up to $8,000+ for the grill alone, Lynx and Alfresco both deliver professional commercial-grade performance. For clients who want a Weber name, the Weber Genesis built-in is a good mid-tier option, though it lacks the warranty and gauge of Blaze at a similar price.
