When Rebuild Is the Right Answer
Full demolition and rebuild makes sense when:
- The frame is structurally compromised — water damage to the substrate, failed base construction, or significant settling that’s created structural instability in the cabinet framing
- The layout is fundamentally wrong — the existing kitchen is oriented or positioned in a way that renovation can’t fix, or the homeowner wants a size and configuration so different from what exists that renovation would cost more than starting fresh
- The overall investment isn’t recoverable — if an existing kitchen was cheaply built with inferior materials throughout, the cost of fixing all of its issues may exceed the cost of a new build that will last significantly longer
