Water Supply Line
A cold water line is the minimum requirement. Hot water requires either running a hot line from inside the home (adds cost but worth it for serious outdoor kitchens) or installing a small point-of-use water heater near the sink. We plan water line routing during construction — retrofitting a water line to an existing outdoor kitchen is significantly more expensive.
Drain
The drain from an outdoor sink needs to connect to a proper drain point — either tie-in to the home’s drain system or a properly installed dry well or French drain. Draining directly onto the patio or yard is not acceptable and can cause damage over time.
Winterization
Oklahoma winters require a shutoff valve inside the home on the outdoor water line so the line can be drained before freezing temperatures arrive. This is a critical detail — a frozen and burst outdoor water line is an expensive repair.
